Football was an “escape hatch” for TreVeyon Henderson, who grew in Hopewell, VA, amid shootings, robbings, killings, while his mom worked and stressed to provide for her kids.
“It was just so much built-up anger,” TreVeyon says. I didn’t know how to remove that anger. So that’s when the suicidal thoughts started to pop up because I didn’t know who I could vent to.”
The man who became famous for spectacular rushes and brutal hits found God at Ohio State University. Today, he actively shares his faith with others, recently stoking revival at his alma mater.
“I got ahold of a Bible from my former coach, and I learned about Jesus Christ and who he is,” TreYevon says. “Football is a gift that God has allowed me to play and given me a platform to spread the Word.”

The anger disappeared as TreVeyon read the Word.
TreVeyon and other Christian former and current Buckeyes spoke and performed at an OSU event on campus. They traded “helmets for hope.” They performed worship music, gave testimonies, invited students to accept Jesus and even did baptisms in tin tubs.

Other leaders in the movement include Gee Scott Jr., and Carson Hinzman.
“The strong faith in Jesus Christ that these football players have, has sparked this excitement across the campus,” says Jacob Byrd, founder of The Walk Foundation.
They’re playing for more than a championship. They’re playing for eternity.
