After her dad was murdered in Vijayawada in 1990 for being a Christian and a politician, Asha Kantepudi’s family became destitute.
When she got her master’s degree in computer science, Asha took charge of her mom, a housewife, and three siblings. She moved to Hyderabad to seek employment but really her dream was to emigrate to the West.
“The only dream I had to become big, to grow in life, was to go abroad to America to earn in dollars.” Asha says. “That was my dream; that was my desire.”
While her dreams were huge, the need of her mom and siblings was crushing. She needed money NOW and couldn’t take her time on the job search, so she took employment at ICICI Bank. She earned 5,000 rupees a month, about half of which she sent home to Mom.
“Sometimes I used to walk two to three kilometers to work just to save five or 10 rupees,” she said. “I stayed in a hostel. On only 500 rupees (after paying the hostel), I survived the month. I faced a lot of financial struggles.”
Despite the scarcity, she paid her tithe – 500 rupees – to her church in Hyderabad, The King’s Temple church. She attended all three services on Sunday, visited orphans and widows, prayed for people, helping making phone calls with the ministry team.

She even set aside money to give to the poor.
God blessed her. She changed jobs several times and was earning 25,000 rupees a month. She asked God what her destiny was.
Then someone from the United States called and hired her for more than twice the salary – 60,000 rupees.
She worked for that company for seven years. Her boss recognized her work and raised her salary several times. She was making 250,000 rupees a month.
She launched her own business. She had not outside investment.
“I started my own business with only my faith in God,” she said.
It grew slowly. At six months, she was struggling, but “after that God moved the business and things started moving,” she says.
She had banner years in 2021 and ‘22.
In 2023, recession hit and her income halved. “I don’t know how I survived, only God helped me,” she said. “I survived.”

“I never questioned God,” she says. “I know God is on my side. I started praying. I started believing God and I waited for the time. The only thing I did at the time of hardships, at the time of recession, at the time of bad business, was to be patient. The only thing I did was waited on God patiently, waiting for his time. Just believe in him. Having faith and patience. These two things worked in my life. Patience is the big big thing.”
In 2025, everything changed for the better.
“Things began to move, the projects started coming to my company,” she says.
With 30 employees, her company earns $400,000 a month.
“At the time of my studies I thought that I need to go to US to earn dollars,” Asha says. “But today without going to the US, dollars are coming to me, to my home country, to my home place. So it’s all happened just because the favor of God which is upon my life.”
