NOTE: Updated at end. By Abdul Masih —
All kinds of horrid people are celebrating Charlie Kirk‘s assassination online, but Hailey Bunsold was a students director at Restoration Church of San Diego.
“You reap what you sow,” Hailey posted on TikTok while dancing with what appears to be fingers pointing as if they were pistols.
Restoration is a LGBTQ-affirming evangelical church whose doctrine is standard until you click on the tab “Our meaning for ‘all people.'” That tab states: “We believe All People regardless of racial, socio-economic position, physical/ mental ability, gender identity, sexual orientation and relational status, are invited to the table of Jesus, included in the ministry of the Church, and affirmed in our community.”
In recent years, a group of evangelical-ish new churches are trying to accommodate LGBTQ into Biblical doctrine. They rally around the banner of “The Emerging Church.” How do you explain Romans 1:27?
Leftists have argued that calling LGBTQ sin is hateful. Christians are all sinners who have repented of their broken way of doing things.
Regardless of your position on LGBTQ, the cold blooded assassination of Kirk was murder. How can a Christians celebrate murder?

The murder of Kirk is more in line with Marxist communism and of woke cancel culture than it is with the church, regardless of your doctrine or emphasis.
Hailey’s listing on Restoration Church website has been removed. The church posted a response: “The employee is very remorseful about the post… We strongly condemn violence of any kind, and the celebration of the senseless killing of Charlie Kirk does not represent our church or the Jesus we follow… Proper disciplinary steps are being taken organizationally.”
If church leaders wish to distance themselves from this abominable cheering for murder, they should have fired her immediately and publicly. MSNBC, which doesn’t have any sort of Christian values, was less vague when its analyst Matthew Dowd blamed Kirk for getting killed. They swiftly fired him.
UPDATE: Restoration Church subsequently terminated her employment. It posted the following statement: Haily Brunsold is no longer on our staff at Restoration Church. Following the events of last Wednesday’s post, her leadership responsibilities were immediately revoked, and the board confirmed our recommendation that she be removed from the staff team.”
