MSNBC practically justified the killing of conservative firebrand Charlie Kirk Wednesday: “He’s constantly pushing hate speech aimed at certain groups,” analyst Matthew Dowd said. “Hateful thoughts lead to hateful words which then lead to hateful actions.”
In essence, Kirk is to blame for his own murder, according to MSNBC.
Dowd’s comments were uttered before Kirk’s death was confirmed. Both Dowd and MSNBC walked back the “inappropriate, insensitive and unacceptable” comments. “We apologize for his statements, as has he,” said MSNBC President Rebecca Kutler said in a statement. “There is no place for violence in America, political or otherwise.”
UPDATE: Entering full-scale damage control later, MSNBC fired Dowd for his comments.

J.B. Pritzker, governor of Illinois, blamed Trump himself. “There are people who are fomenting political violence in this country,” Pritzker said. “I think the president’s rhetoric often foments it.”
Kirk was on one of his college tours, in which he engages students with discussions about politics and sometimes Christianity. He challenges them to think and consider the university-addled woke propaganda.
On Wednesday, Kirk was speaking at the Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, in front of hundreds of students. He was 20 minutes into a speech on free speech when a rifle shot from 200 yards hit him in the neck. A person was taken into custody but has not been named, according to reports.
Charlie Kirk, 31, started Turning Point USA, a group that supports conservative ideas on over 3,500 college campuses. He became well-known during Donald Trump’s presidency and was very popular among young conservatives. He wasn’t a politician but had a big following through his podcast and speeches.
Remember when Leftists killed Abraham Lincoln? Remember two assassination attempts on President Trump? Remember when Elias Rodriguez killed two Jews for being Jews in Washington D.C.?
Oh, but conservatives are to blame.
Dowd had worked as a political analyst for MSNBC since 2022. Previously he commented for ABC. In 2021/22, he unsuccessfully ran for political office of Lieutenant Governor of Texas as a Democrat.
After the shooting, Elon Musk tweeted, “The Left is the party of murder.”
