A recent trip to Israel by Christian leaders in the Latino community is underscoring the failure of progressives to force Hispanics into their woke ideology, Pastor Samuel Rodriguez says.
“There have been many attempts to engage Latino communities on the side of wokism, of cancel culture, Marxist, socialist worldview ideology,” said the leader of National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference. “This (trip will) build a fire wall against antisemitism.”
Rodriguez visited Israel three months ago with 35 national leaders among Spanish-speaking Christians to show support for the rightful owners of the Holy Land, against a narrative that alleges it belongs to the Arabs and justifies the killing, the rapes, the hostage-taking done on Oct. 7, 2023.

Latinos were a critical component in the Trump landslide presidential election. By in large, didn’t buy into the progressive worldview “that we are part of this global victimization club,” Rodriguez says. Latinos largely adhere to conservative values and believe in the American Dream.
“The Latino evangelical church going forward will be connected to the Holy Land,” Rodriguez says. “We stand with Israel – especially after Oct. 7. That was a wakeup call for Latino Christians to say silence is not an option. Today’s complacency is tomorrow’s captivity. We will not be silent.”
The trip to Israel was in cooperation with Eagles Wings, which has brought people to Israel since 1992 to drum up support for the beleaguered nation. It generated a strong connection between the Bible and the actual land where events took place, Rodriguez says. A visit to the Holy Land creates a strong feeling of love and support among many Bible-believers.
“I believe now the Latino evangelical community in America is moving to the absolute forefront of leadership in America,” says Robert Stearns, head of Eagles Wings. “I believe globally what’s happening in Central and South America, what’s happening in Brazil. is absolutely transformational.
“The epicenter of the future of the Evangelical Church is Latino,” Stearns adds.
Rodriguez sees the fight against antisemitism as ongoing.
“There’s a continuum containing Hitler, Hamas and Hezbollah,” he says. “It’s the continuum of antisemitism.”
