After receiving explicit threats, the gay rights group Jejaka in Malaysia canceled in January its planned retreat Glamping with Pride in Hulu Selangor.
The threats were not limited to a few backwards-thinking weirdos but was joined by police, legislators and government officials. Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Marhama Rosli exhorted the public to stop using the term LGBT.
“To ensure the use of consistent terminology and to avoid any normalization in speech or writing, it is urged that the term LGBT no longer be used starting today,” Marhama said, per translation. “The term should be referred to as ‘deviant culture.'”
The point here is not to weigh the merits of morality in society or blast the suppression of civil liberties. The point here is to demonstrate the vast disconnect between LGBTQ activists in the West believe about Islam and what Muslims believe about LGBTQ.
UC Berkeley ProfessorJudith Butler, an influential pioneer in gender studies and critical theory, said in 2006: “Understanding Hamas and Hezbollah as social movements that are progressive, that are on the Left, is extremely important.”
She’s practically the godmother of the movement. So when she speaks, gender variant guys listen.
Progressives listen to Butler — to the exclusion of listening to Islamists.
Progressives, or woke culture, LOVE Muslims and Islam. In fact, many of them are converting to Islam and celebrating it on TikTok. The reason: Islam is the religion of people of color, an oppressed religion, whereas Christianity is the religion of whites, an oppressor colonizer religion.
That’s what progressives believe.
Occasionally, they bump up against actual Muslims, not imaginary ones discussed in their college classes that romanticize them.
The results? Progressives are truly mystified by the trenchant rejection on the part of Muslims.
In June 2025, progressives planned the Global March to Gaza from Cairo 30 miles through the Sinai Peninsula to the Rafah Crossing. Some 3,000 activists were expected to show solidarity with Hamas. Egypt detained 200 of them and deported 500 of them.
The progressives fell into a self-righteous huff: How could Egypt, a Muslim nation, not understand their intentions to show support to Muslims in Gaza? These progressives, LGBTQ guys among them, threw temper tantrums.
Then at pro-Palestine demonstrations from time to time, LGBTQ supporters have been kicked out by Muslims.
“The people of Palestine will not allow a single homosexual openly declaring his abomination,” s,” says Sheikh Mohammed Saleem Ali on July 1, 2022 at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. “We reject and abhor all the manifestations of homosexuality and perversion. Allah tormented and annihilated the people of Sodom for engaging in this crime.”
In September 2025, pro-Palestinian activists quit Greta Thunberg’s Freedom Flotilla Coalition when they learned to their horror that there were LGBTQ participants in their midst.
“We were lied to about the identity of some participants in the vanguard of the flotilla,” said one pro-Palestinian activist, according to a translation by Le Courrier de l’Atlas and published in Daily Mail. “I accuse the organisers of having hidden this aspect from us.”
Still, the men who put on dresses and the women who take hormones to sprout facial hair remain steadfastly loyal to the oppressed of Islam. SMH.
