When Mohammad got saved in Gaza, he started loving Israelis.
“You’re my man in Gaza,” Jesus told him in a dream. “Tell everyone about me.”
Mohammad has been outreaching to Gaza before the war, during the war and after the war, reports Tom Doyle, who heads an outreach to Muslims.
Mohammad got saved because his wife got saved.
Sharin (not her real name) was in a refugee camp when Tom and his wife, JoAnn, met her. Her one ambition in life was to one day own a laptop.
Tom and JoAnn got her the laptop, but first they uploaded the Bible and all kinds of Christian content. Sharin got saved.
Back in Gaza, she married Mohammad. He wasn’t a good husband and never gave her a gift, so Sharin asked Tom and JoAnn to pray for him. He wound up getting saved and became a good man.
Even more, he became an evangelist.
His ministry exploded during the war. People were desperate. Death was stalking all around. They saw that he had hope.
“People are sick of their religion, they are tired of war, they want to see something new,” Doyle says. “Many people have been led to faith in Christ.”
Tom and JoAnn were missionaries based in Jordan partnering with local Christian leaders, training pastors and supporting underground or indigenous ministries. After serving two decades across the Middle East, Tom is now president of Uncharted Ministries.
“Right now, Muslims are more reachable than at any time in their 1400 year history. They are responding to the gospel,” Doyle says. “They’re interested in the gospel.”
Myriad Muslims have had dreams about a glowing man robed in light, and they don’t know who or what he is. That’s when they search online and stumble upon Christian resources and find out about Christ, Tom says.
Mohammad had been told from childhood that the Jews were apes and pigs to be hated and killed mercilessly. Then he read in Matthew about the need to love your enemies. He was brought to tears. He found himself praying for Israelis every time Hamas launched rockets into Israel.
