Ishaq was a Moroccan who defended his Muslim faith passionately. He fasted during Ramada, prayed five times a day and proselytized using material promoted by YouTube channels like Merciful Servants.
As an engineer, he moved to Paris at age 20 and became best friends with an atheist. When Ishaq, whose identity is obscured to keep him safe from retribution, shared that he was Muslim, the atheist asked him why.
What did he think of Muhammad consummating his marriage with a 9-year-old? Why did he believe in the scientific frauds of the Qur’an? Was he concerned about Muslim men marrying little girls throughout Islamdom?
Ishaq tried to defend his faith. But doubts were settling in.
In frustration and confusion one day, Ishaq asked on the streets of Paris: “God whoever you are — Allah or Jesus or Yahveh or Buddha or I don’t know — I just want to understand.”
Two days later an inexplicable certainty came to him. Jesus was more than a prophet.
“After that special night, I couldn’t control myself,” he says. “I went to a church in Paris.”
There he talked excited with the priest about his newfound love of Jesus. The priest gave him a Bible and instructed him to read, first the Book of Mark. The priest quoted him John 3:16: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him, should not perish but have everlasting life.
A month ago, Ishaq was baptized. His atheist friend congratulated him.
