An unrelenting series of militant attacks against Christians in Nigeria qualifies as a genocide, but the West isn’t interested, partly because the previous U.S. administration bought the propaganda that the conflicts are not religiously motivated but herdsmen vying for land with farmers.
“It is a religious cleansing targeted at Christians,” says Masara Kim, a reporter for Truth Nigeria. “What is going on in Nigeria is a genocide. It has been going on for several decades and world is not paying attention.”
In April of this year, more than 200 Christians were killed, says Kim, who has spent the last 15 years documenting the pogrom. On Palm Sunday, 55 Christians were murdered in a coordinated attack by
Muslims who shouted “Allahu akbar” (translated: Allah is great!).
“There were thunderous gunshots all over the community,” Kim reports. “Dozens of homes were burned down. Women and children formed the vast majority of these victims.
“In one room, I saw the bodies of eight children, aged three through eight,” Kim adds. “Their brains were plastered against the wall. The room was flooded with their blood.”

Kim’s report coincides with the 2025 World Watch List which tallied 3,100 Christians killed for their faith.
“More believers are killed for their faith in Nigeria than anywhere else in the world,” the report states.
Perpetrators include Boko Haram, Fulani herdsmen and Islamic State West Africa, all Islamist groups that believe the literal application of the Koran and the life of Mohammad means brutal killing of non-believers.
The onslaught in Nigeria basically started on the same day as the Twin Tower attacks in New York, Kim says.
In the U.S., al-Qaeda hijackers flew planes into the World Trade Towers and into the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001. On the same day in Nigeria, terrorist marched into Rankum, a Christian town, and slaughtered 200 people, while shouting “Allahu akbar,” Kim says.
The Sun of Nigeria reports similarly: In “Rankum, the natives are no more and their homes have also vanished.”
The conquered town became a headquarters to launch further Islamist attacks, Kim says. Its name was changed to Mahanga, he says.
“It is a staging ground for more terrorist attacks,” he says. “More than 150 communities have been captured by terrorists acting on orders from their superiors, their warlords.”
On May 25, a pastor was murdered and wife injured in Mushere, a town in Bokkos County. The next day, seven more people were killed.

As the victims were being buried, terrorists returned, 500 fighters strong, to renew attacks, taking advantage of the funeral gathering to perpetrate more mayhem.
“The Nigerian authorities seem to either be complicit or just turn a blind eye and have found a way to distort the narrative,” Kim says. “What is going on is an agenda, a clearcut calculated agenda to eliminate Christians in Africa’s most populous nation and impose an Islamic caliphate.”
Amnesty International called the government’s lack of action to protect the vulnerable a “shocking failure.” Their report on May 29 of this year said the extremists in Plateau State kill with impunity. (Kim reports from Plateau State.)
“In Plateau State, armed herders carried out 38 attacks,” Amnesty International says. “Between March 27 to April 2, coordinated attacks took place against five communities: Daffo, Gwande, Hurti, Manguna and Ruwi in Bokkos local government.”
According to Amnesty International, 10,217 people were killed by “bandits or armed groups” in the last two years. Amnesty International did not include religious affiliation into their analysis.
“I would say it unapologetically, what happened in the last two weeks in Bokkos is genocide – I say it unreservedly,” said Caleb Mutfwang, governor of Plateau State.
Meanwhile, Nigerian President Bola Tinabu has yet to allocate security resources to back up his tough talk against the terrorists.
