The latest champion of women empowerment, winning the British Citizen Award for emanicipating young girls, is Khadija Patel.
Patel, a devout Muslim, showed up to the Palace of Westminister fully covered in black garb, including the niqab that leaves only the eyes to be seen.
“This can’t be true,” one user of X commented.
“Does she look empowered?” asked Christopher Talbot also on X.
Out of respect for her religion, hosts ingenuously ignored her garb.
Or maybe they genuinely ignore the implications behind the utter covering of women in Islam, which portrays men as uncontrollable and justifies rape if a lady is dressed inappropriately — especially if she is non-Muslim.
A woman MUST not only cover herself fully and is not allowed to walk about without a male guardian.
In Islam, men may beat their wives, may have four wives, may acquire sex slaves from war. A woman’s testimony in court values half a man’s. A husband has total authority over her, as if she were his property. Because the maximum example of perfection, Mohammad, had a child wife, Muslim men throughout the world are marrying underage girls.
Patel founded KRIMMZ Girls Youth Club which gets girls into cricket, soccer, cycling, netball, skiing and swimming. It is not clear if the girls must wear the full covering while practicing sports. Most pictures of Muslim women at beaches and public pools show them completely covered up.
The news was first shared by Lancashire FA on X and has since been reported by, among others, the Muslim websites IlmFeed and 5Pillars. Patel is one of 28 recipients of the award in 2026, which is described as “The People’s Honors” and is presented in recognition of “outstanding courage, selflessness and sustained community service”.
“This award is not just for me. It represents every volunteer, young person, woman, family, and community member who has supported KRIMMZ Girls Youth Club,” Patel said after receiving the award, according to IlmFeed.
Commentator David Strom writes in HotAir that the award is an example of how the British authorities “go to absurd lengths to pretend Muslims are just like everybody else”, and questions why a woman veiled in accordance with what he describes as “extremist” interpretations of Islam is being honored for promoting women’s emancipation.
