Every 10 days, Afshin Javid read the Quran cover to cover. A Hezbollah militant from Iran, he volunteered to walk on land mines and participated in the hanging of infidels “trying to please Allah.”
But when 30 fake passports landed him in jail in Malaysia en route to the U.S., Afshin Javid had an encounter with Christ.
“A man appears in front of me normal size but his being shines light, not a normal light,” Afshin says. “I knew I’m not holy and I knew the only just thing for him to do was to kill me.
“But I didn’t want to die,” he adds.

Afshin cowered in the furthest corner of his cell and hid his head in his arms. “I cried out shouting, Forgive me! Forgive me! Forgive me!”
He felt a hand touch his shoulder. “I forgive you,” a voice said.
“A weight just lifted off me,” Afshin says. “I knew I was forgiven.”
But he was confused; only Allah can forgive. The shining man was not Allah.
“I am the way, the truth and the life,” the vision said. It was a powerful statement.
“What is your name?” he ventured to ask.
“Jesus Christ,” he responded.
“It was like someone grabbed all my bones out of my body,” he remembers. “I just fell like a piece of meat to the ground. I began to weep,
“It was like being color blind and then suddenly you see colors and you realize the world is so much more beautiful than you ever thought,” he adds. “The hatred, the anger that is in every heart of every Muslim” vanished from his heart.
Eventually, Afshin was released and continued serving Christ. He founded a ministry, A Bridge to Grace, which encourages relationship between Jews and Persians.
