Rudi Dutschke strategized in 1967 the communist takeover of the West with the Long March Through Institutions. Almost 60 year later, socialists are no closer to their goal.
Meanwhile, radical Islam’s March Through Universities has been comparatively short and markedly more successful. When Hamas shocked the world by killing, raping, burning and decapitating some 1,200 civilians in Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, university students shouted and churned out social media propaganda that actually the Israelis were the aggressors.

How did Islamist ideology essentially perform a coup d’état on higher education in less than a decade?
- You can thank UC Berkeley professor Hatem Bazian, who founded and fueled now more than 200 campus chapters of Social Justice for Palestine, which rebranded terrorism as a fight against oppression. The groups take their cues from Muslim Brotherhood doctrine.
- You can thank Qatar, which donated $6.5B to American universities since 2001, buying sway and favorable attitude towards extremist ideas, which Qatar supports. See report linking Arab funding to universities tolerating antisemitism.
- You can thank the radicalization of young women online. In the U.S., Gen Z females voted for progressive ideology by 32 points difference from males, a gap that opened up in just six years. “It is likely that the rapid radicalization of today’s young women is at least partially explained by our evolved psychology,” says Australian journalist Claire Lehman. “It doesn’t help that today’s activism is shaped by the worldview known as critical theory.”
- You can thank the resurgence of antisemitism, rebranded under the more palatable term “anti Zionism.” A Harvard’s own antisemitism study concluded: “October 7th arrived on a campus with growing animosity against Israel and suspicion, if not downright hostility, towards Israelis, Jews, and others sympathetic to Israel.”
In one of the most mind-boggling signs that happens across universities, a green-haired LGBTQ activist will don a hijab and bow at time for prayer in solidarity with Islam, not knowing that Shariah law would kill her.
