Who the heck are the Houthis?

No, the Houthis are not from Whoville (or Houthiville), and Dr. Seuss doesn’t rule the Middle East.

So why did Trump send 1,000 bombing missions on them, and why did the Israelis completely blow to smithereens their airport?

For that matter, what is the cause of all the chaos in the Middle East?

Behind the attacks (not the retaliations) lies one thing: extremist Islam.

The Houthis are radical Islamists in Northeastern Yemen on the tip of the Arabian Peninsula. They ascribe to the fundamentalist Islam that believes Mohammad’s conquest by war and terror is the way to win the world to Allah.

The Houthis belong to the branch of Islam called Shia. It’s the same type of Islam of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, along with Hezbollah in Syria and Lebanon.

The other main branch of Islam, Sunni, is not free from extremism either. The Pakistanis are mostly Sunni and have maintained a policy of harboring (nurturing?) terrorists to attack their 80-year-old arch-nemesis, Hindu India.

After terrorists killed Hindus in the disputed border region of Kashmir, India retaliated with target attacks on terrorist centers. Pakistan called the retaliation the start of war and responded by shelling civilians in India.

Meanwhile, the world is biting its nails, wondering if the two nuclear powers will resort to nuclear holocaust.

So Sunni Islam has its extremists too.

On the Arabian Peninsula, Qatar allows terrorists, fund-raises for terrorism and permits radical clerics to preach on its airways — a thing Saudi Arabia repudiated after Osama Ben Ladin led the 9/11 attacks against the New York World Trade Center.

“Since the mid-90s, the Qataris have been sponsoring radicals,” said Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir. “They have become the base for the leadership of the Muslim Brotherhood. The Muslim Brotherhood begot Takfir Wal-Hijra, which begot Al-Qaeda. The Qataris allow their senior clerics to go on national television and justify suicide bombings. We’ve capture Al-Qaeda types coming into Saudi Arabia with Qatari passports… The Qataris use their media platforms to spread hate.”

In regards to extremist-overrun Yemen, President Trump announced an end to bombing on the Houthis after they promised to stop launching missiles against merchant ships traveling up to the Suez Canal (a terror move that hamstrung 12% of the world’s trade).

But no such ceasefire exists for Israel. The Houthis keep launching missiles at Israel (supposedly in support of Hamas) at the apparent behest of Iran, their Shia Muslim ally. When a Houthi missile exploded near Israel’s main airport this week, Israel retaliated with sorties against the Houthi controlled airport in Sanaa. The Israelis also blew up a cement factory to hurt their GDP.

Throughout Islam’s stormy history, the two chief branches — Sunni and Shia — have fought bloody war. But sometimes, they collaborate. Perhaps the strangest collaboration is the Shia help to Sunni Hamas in Gaza. The Shias want to portray themselves as the saviors of Muslims by sponsoring and assisting Hamas do terror against Israel.

At the end of the day, it’s the terrorist Islamists against everyone and everyone against the Islamist terrorists. Is this the fulfillment of God’s prophecy about Ishmael, the father of the Arabs: This son of yours will be a wild man, as untamed as a wild donkey! He will raise his fist against everyone, and everyone will be against him. Yes, he will live in open hostility against all his relatives. Gen. 16:12.

India, Israel, America. Hindus, Jews and Christians against radical Muslims.

The only people in favor of the radical Muslims pretty much are the (tend to be) secular progressives, who see a kinship of oppression with Gazans (since Marxist victimhood is the basis of their worldview).

But lest they say we’re Islamophobic, let us quote the Quran Surah 8:15 O you who believe! When you meet those who disbelieve, in a battle-field, never turn your backs to them.
