A group of pastors have ganged up on firebrand Candace Owens for calling Israel “demonic” and urging Christians to drop their support for the 1948-re-formed nation.
Owens, following up on an interview by Tucker Carlson with Senator Ted Cruz, said Genesis’ mandate to bless Israel does not apply to the modern iteration of the Jewish nation and calls Christians who love Israel “heretics.”
Her acid, however, is derived from a branch of theology called Successionism, or Covenant Theology (or Replacement Theology). Specifically, Christians have “succeeded” (replaced) the Jews as God’s people. She blames the Scofield Bible for promoting the idea of love for Israel and says it was funded and promoted by a powerful Jewish cabal.
One thing she fails to mention is that the Scofield Bible was incredibly popular with people and purchased and read widely because of its useful notations. The Scofield Bible popularized the idea of Dispensationalism and the idea of the rapture and the Great Tribulation, which have wide acceptance among evangelicals, especially Pentecostals. Owens is Catholic and doesn’t believe any of these doctrines.
Mainline churches “adhere to something known as Covenant Theology which have moved away from what I think is the clear teaching of scripture, Old and New Testament on Israel’s place. God made commitments to Abraham and to his descendants, which God says in the Bible in Genesis 12 were forever,” says Pastor Bob Kopeny of East Anaheim Calvary Chapel. “He gave them the land forever — not until some modern time or if they stop being a nation.”
Pastor Garid Beeler of Vision Calvary Chapel agrees: “I think it’s a a pretty hardcore statement to call it dispensationalist heresy. I I mean that that’s a very very severe accusation.”
Without exonerating Israel for its wrongdoings, it should be noted that to call the nation “demonic” seems to draw upon the constant propaganda of Hamas (which still hasn’t released 50 hostages) and it seems to smack of antisemitism.
Owens famously feuded with her former boss, Ben Shapiro, a Jew, at the Daily Wire. It seems that once she developed an antipathy for her ex-boss, she seems to have burrowed farther down the rabbit hole.
When Kanye (now Ye) starting antisemitic rants and recorded a song “Heil Hitler,” Candace defended him. When Kanye repented of his antisemitism and changed the song to “Hallelujah,” Candace remained mum.
In other news, Candace has been sued by the French president for alleging that his wife, Brigitte was born a man.
