Lefties ‘betrayed’ by Muslim city council they voted for

In 2015, progressives celebrated the diversity of Hamtramck, Michigan when an all-Muslim city council was voted into power.

In 2023, they saw what it actually means to have Muslims in power. The City Council voted unanimously to ban gay pride flags from city property.

“There’s a sense of betrayal,” said former Mayor Karen Majewskin. “We supported you (Muslims) when you were threatened, and now our (LGBTQ) rights are threatened, and you’re the one doing the threatening.”

With Yemeni population at more than 30% and growing and the Bangladeshis at about 25%, Hamtramck can be seen as a case study of what might happen to America when Muslims take over (by birth rates and immigration).

Calls for prayer are broadcast loud over speaker systems from mosques. Women are covered from head to toe. Animals can be slaughtered halal-style in backyards. There’s opposition to marijuana dispensary and opposition to LGBTQ.

It wasn’t supposed to be this way. According to progressives, the Red-Green coalition, the joining of LGBTQ with Muslims would overcome the exploitative power structures supposedly imposed by redneck Americans, as they say.

But time and again the progressives are shocked when the Muslims whom they supported turn against them. You see it when pro-Palestinian protesters try to exclude progressives from their marches, to the surprise of the progressives.

Hamstramck is a city in the great metropolis of Detroit. It was a largely Polish neighborhood, but the bars and sausage shops are closing.

In other changes, Holbrook Avenue – a centerpiece for the town and where the pope spoke when he came to America – was changed to Palestine Avenue in regards to the Israel-Palestine War.

“Renaming things is powerful and the time of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, he heard that there was a valley named the Valley of Darkness, and the Prophet (renamed it) the Valley of Guidance,” said Imam Imran Salha, the religious leader of the Islamic Center of Detroit, at the renaming ceremony in March 2024.
