Because Sam Nasser refused to sign a fraudulent contract, the Iranian government persecuted him and his family to the point his wife wanted a divorce and his son was in danger of being kidnapped.
“God, do you exist? Show me yourself,” a desperate and angry Nasser prayed to the god of Islam. ”Show me the right way. Every way is materialist. Everybody is against me and I’m doing good things. Show me the right person to come to you. I’m not going to follow you anymore.”
God didn’t answer any of those requests. At least not immediately. Instead, he told Nasser to leave Iran.
Sam Nasser returned to Iran with his civil engineering degree from America. He lived a prosperous life – until corrupt government officials tried to get him to play with their game of fraud. Even the local imam told him to sign the illegal contract.

The pressure for him to go against his conscience and sign and illegal contract was intense. They garnished wages, and Sam had difficulties paying his bills. His kids were in danger and his wife wanted a divorce. He didn’t understand why things went wrong if he was doing what was right.
God told him to flee Iran with his wife and family. Canada received them as refugees. Since he was staying at a shelter, someone recommended he go to a church to see in Christians could help him with a job or an apartment. It was 1990.
He stood in the last row. He saw the congregation worshipping Jesus in front of the cross. Unexpectedly, God addressed him in his mind.
“Are you looking for the right way? I am the right way,” God said. “Are you looking for the right person? These are the right persons.”
He was stunned. All his life, he had never questioned Islam. Suddenly in a church, he was confronted by the True God. It caused him great consternation, so he asked God.
“How come Jesus is stronger than Muhammad? Muhammad is the last (prophet, according to Islam),” he questioned.
“Nobody forced you” to come to church, God replied. “You were looking for truth. I am revealing it to you. Are you denying it?”
The Holy Spirit fell on Sam, and he became born-again. He was 44 years old.
He started reading the Bible. It wasn’t easy to accept after trusting the Qur’an for so many years. But when he ran across 1 Corinthians 13 – the chapter about love, he embraced the Bible. It reminded him of his mother’s love. It was unlike anything in Islam.
“That love is unconditional,” he said. “When I read about uh unconditional love, right away I started to cry and grab that paper and put it on my heart. I said this is my character. This is the book.”
He was thrilled. But when his wife found out he had become Christian, she was anything but thrilled.
In fact, she separated herself from her “unclean” husband. She slept in a different bed and room. She even kept her dishes separate from his.
As time progressed, she began sneaking into his bedroom and reading his Bible, while he was out.
Eventually, Jesus revealed himself to her too, though she resisted three times. But when she was touched in her neck (presumably healed), she came to accept the Lord.
Today, Sam is a pastor and church planter out of Canada.
