Hamas was supposed to turn in their weapons and let civilians lead Gaza as part of the peace treaty with Israel and Trump. But that hasn’t happened yet. Instead, Hamas is killing its own citizens, without trial, for “collaborating” with its enemy, Israel.

On July 1, 2026, the Hamas-affiliate “Resistance Security System” executed Mustafa Mahna in Gaza City with no judicial proceeding. He was blamed for helping Israeli forces locate and kill senior members of Hamas’s military wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, especially senior military commander Ezziddine al-Haddad.
In the news, much is made of Israeli forces killing Gazans and very little of Hamas killing its own people.
The July 1 killing marked the beginning of a “large-scale security campaign,” an unidentified senior Resistance Security System official announced. More extrajudicial killings were expected.

Within days, Hamas-linked Telegram channels announced that another alleged informant had been arrested and interrogated and would be executed “within days.” Another report said the suspect was accused of helping Israel locate Hamas commander Muhammad Odeh.
The United Nations is watching Hamas executions and issued a report in June 2026 in which it identified 249 cases of extrajudicial execution or severe physical violence in Gaza between August 2024 and January 2026, resulting in at least 108 deaths.
At least 60 cases involved Hamas-affiliated forces. Victims included people accused of collaborating with Israel as well as alleged criminals, looters and Hamas’s internal opponents.

Notably on Oct. 13, 2025, eight members of the Dughmush family were publicly shackled, blindfolded and executed after being parade in the streets of a Gaza City street.
On Sept. 21, 2025, three blindfolded men were publicly executed outside Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City after being accused of collaboration with Israel and association with an anti-Hamas armed group. Video showed them bound before being shot.
On Aug. 23, 2025, a Hamas-linked security unit announced that it had executed four Palestinians — three men and one woman — for alleged ties to the Israeli military. This claim comes from the unit’s own Telegram announcement.
On June 11, 2025, gunmen affiliated with Sahim, a Hamas-established armed unit, abducted, tortured and killed 12 Palestinians accused of working with the U.S.-Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, Amnesty International says.
