Gunmen kill 15 Jews on Sydney beach

UPDATED. At least two gunmen shot and killed 15 people at a Jewish celebration Chanukah by the Sea at Bondi Beach of Sydney today around 6:45 p.m. Another 20 or so were injured. One of the shooters was identified by internet sleuths as Muslim Naveed Akram after police released photos.

Meanwhile, Pope Leo XIV on Dec. 2 said, “We should perhaps be a little less fearful (of Islam) and look for ways of promoting authentic dialogue and respect.”

The confusion is left-leaning Westerners don’t take their scriptures seriously, and they do. Not all Muslims are extremists. There is a overwhelming consensus among Christians that violent passages in the Bible are retelling history and not current orders, whereas so many in Islam interpret jihadist verses as unexpired.

At Bondi Beach, one suspect was reported killed and another critically injured. Video on X showed an Australian man, now identified as Ahmed al Ahmed, sneaking up on one of the shooters, quickly overpower and disarming him. Authorities were looking for a third suspect, and an Improvised Explosive Device was found nearby and deactivated. About 50 shots were fired.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemned the attack as an “act of evil antisemitism” and convened a national security council meeting in response.

In Sahih Muslim 2922 (Book of Tribulations), a hadith says, “The Hour will not come until the Muslims fight the Jews, and the Muslims will kill them, until the Jew hides behind a stone or a tree, and the stone or tree will say: ‘O Muslim, O servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him.’ But the gharqad tree would not say, for it is the tree of the Jews.”

Many Islamist interpreters link proactive killing of Jews to the end of time, like Hamas which explicitly cited it in propaganda and charter.

These interpretations are frequently cited, echoed and legitimized by Western imams and scholars, sometimes in Arabic, but monitored and translated by MEMRI. They are publicly and do not require deep research. Consider a tiny sampling:

• Chicago Islamic Scholar Mohammad Nusairat posted Dec. 2: “Islam did not come to coexist. We can’t think of Islam that it came to live with these other religions… Islam came to remove the oppression of all those religions.
• Texas Imam Abdul Rahman Idris at EPIC Friday sermon, per translation, posted Dec. 2: “Oh Allah, take revenge on the enemies of Islam. Oh Allah, stand by the oppressed brothers in Gaza, grant them victory and cure the wounded among them. Oh Allah, destroy the accursed Zionists. Oh Allah, inflict a black day among them… Oh Allah, shake the earth beneath their feet.”
• Islamic Jihad Official in Lebanon Abu Samer Musa on Hizbullah TV, per translation: “Even Hitler said the Jews must be killed and erased from the face of the Earth because they are the cause of humanity’s ruin. I am against the Jews who occupied Palestine and settled it… According to Sharia, (the occupiers) should be killed. There can be no negotiations or truces with them.”

It’s not that extremists are hiding their true intentions to conquer the West. It is that Leftist, who cling dearly to the worldview that people of color are always the victims, are hiding themselves from the truth. Every time extremists demonstrate their inspiration from Islamic scriptures, the Left trots out the “mental illness” narrative. Reality can’t shatter their love affair with radical Islam.

Cue the eye roll.

The Jews in the Arabian Peninsula were among the biggest opponents, according to Islamic history, to accepting Muhammad‘s new teaching. After slaughtering a bunch of Jews at Khaybar, Muhammad returned victorious to his home, it is said.

In response, his Jewish wife, Zaynab, poisoned the lamb she roasted for him, and eventually, according to some hadiths, he died of that venom.

The killing of Jews is of first importance to these extremists. Then comes, as Brigitte Gabriel says, the killing of Christians.
