Gwen Stefani may have been on top of the world, but none of that could help her have a third child that she wanted – she was too old to get pregnant and carry to term at age 44.
But her son Kingston prayed every night for four weeks: “Please, God, let my mom have a baby.”
The resulting pregnancy and birth of Apollo was the beginning of Stefani’s return to her Catholic upbringing, a search that came to head during the 2020 lockdown when she searched up Catholic content.

She stumbled upon Father Mike Schmitz. “He’s such a relatable young, energetic priest,” she says. “That sermon really changed me,” she says. “I remember just balling and being on fire. I found truth.”
She also found the Hallow prayer app. “I was educating myself and reading the Bible through,” Gwen says. “I wanted to hear more and more and more.”
Gwen Stefani rose to fame as the lead singer of the band No Doubt, but smashing success came with her 2004 solo studio album Love Angel Music Baby, which spawned six hit singles including “Hollaback Girl,” the first U.S. download to sell 1M.

There was no looking back: three more solo albums, three Grammys, the clothing line L.A.M.B. She married Gavin Rossdale, with whom she had her three kids. The marriage ended in divorce in 2016 with allegations he had an affair with the nanny. Gwen remarried Blake Shelton in 2021.
