An Oklahoma man who was caring for his elderly father in Syria was dragged outside and executed in Tishreen Square by Syrian-backed militia — the latest of 182 estimated to be killed by government soldiers.
Interim President Ahmed Hussein al-Sharaa (formerly an ISIS commander known as Al-Julani) blamed the Druze as renegade terrorists threatening to undermine the legitimacy of the new government. The Druze along with the Kurds have refused the government’s order to disarm.

Hosam Saraya, a 35-year-old MBA graduate of Oklahoma Christian University, was made to kneel before being killed in the Druze-majority city of Suwayda. Soldiers shouted “Allahu Akbar!”
“One of them was wearing a General Security uniform … the black one. They told us, ‘We are the army of Ahmad Al-Jolani,’” a female relative told CNN. “They threatened us, told us not to make a sound or we will kill you. They threatened us with rape … he told me, ‘If you speak, I will come and kill you.’”
Western governments were essentially crossing their fingers when they christened al-Sharaa a partner in peace when he donned a suit and spoke words of peace. In 2021, Al Sharaa when the man who told PBS that Muslims worldwide rejoiced at 9/11: “Anyone who lived in the Islamic or Arab world at the time of 9/11, and said he wasn’t happy about it, would be lying.”
The U.S. State Department designated him as a terrorist and put a $10M bounty on his head. But the terror designation was dropped when al-Sharaa took over Syria blitzkrieg-like when the former dictator Bashar al-Assad was weakened as a result of Israeli strikes against Hezbollah in his territory.

ISIS, like al-Qaeda and the Taliban, only wants worldwide conquest by Islam and the institution of Sharia law, which includes the murdering of men who refuse to convert and the distribution of non-Muslim women as sex slaves. When ISIS took over parts of Iraq and Syria in 2013-14, they committed atrocities against Yazidis and Assyrian Christians horrifying the world.
How quickly the world has forgotten. At present, most media, woke politicians and activists can only see Israel and Jews as the bad guys. There’s no framework any more for comprehending Islamist terror. Newsweek and Reuters called the situation “complicated.” The only “complicated” thing is when you ignore their founding principals and delusionally call Israel the bad guy.
Initially, Israel tried to thwart further attacks against the Druze by bombing the military headquarters in Damascus. (Israel needs the Druze, living in the South of Syria, as a buffer against the Islamist Syrian government. Also Israel has a significant Druze population in its borders.)
But world pressure caused Israel to back down, leaving the Druze (estimated population in Syria 700,000) helpless. Without Israel (or anyone else) standing up for this religious minority, the Druze are completely at the mercy of the Islamists integrating Syria’s military forces.
Naturally, Al-Sharaa has taken the side of the Bedouin Muslims who engage in conflict with the Druze.
“How can the international community accept such a thing and just go ahead with their lives?” says Rania Dean, an Israeli-Druze activist. “We’ve been exposing thousands of such footages: public execution, humiliation of religious shrine, enslaving women, executing them, kidnapping them. Thousands of women are missing still.”
So far, estimates of dead Druze reach 588.
