In February, Angela Nutt lost custody of her daughter. In March, she lost her job, in April she got evicted from her apartment and lost her car, and at this point she hadn’t spoken to her family for six months. Around the time all this happened Angela ended up getting pregnant as well.
“I remember thinking this is not gonna work, I cannot have this baby, I can’t even take care of myself. I’ve lost custody of the one child that I have. My parents don’t speak to me. There is absolutely no way I can have this baby.”
Angela scheduled an abortion. “It made sense to let this child stay with Jesus and not bring it into my crazy life because my life was in absolute shambles,” she said. “I was so addicted. I was losing everything and had no support.”
One night a couple days before the abortion she prayed to God. “What if this is the wrong decision? I didn’t know what to do. It seemed wrong but it also seemed wrong to let this baby come into my life. Shouldn’t I let it stay in Heaven with Jesus where it’s beautiful and peaceful and not let it have to come into my mess of a life?”

She gave God three days to let her know what to do. She really was wrestling with the decision.
At a golf tournament where she worked, an acquaintance with a beer came over to her and spoke to her: “Angela, I just had to tell you: I’ve been praying for you a lot lately. You’ve just been on my heart.”
“Have you ever seen Mortal Kombat, where they get this ball of energy and they shoot it at you?” Angela says. “It felt like a literal ball of energy hit me right in my chest and just went out.”
She heard God speaking.
“Angela, if I’ve put you on his heart, somebody that doesn’t see you every day, somebody that hasn’t seen you in years, I haven’t forgotten about you. I still see you. I still know what’s going on. I’m working instantly.”
Something happened in her heart: “All the hate and all the fear and all the anger that I felt towards this baby was gone.”
God brought to memory some Bible.
“Angela, when Moses stood at the Red Sea, he had no idea how he’d get across,” God told her. “He didn’t know it was impossible. He had no way to get across. His only option was me. Angela, this is your Red Sea. Your only option right now is me. If you’ll just let me work and let me do something, I’ll part this Red Sea. I’ll get you and this baby across.”
Angela looked at the golfer. “You have no idea how perfect your timing was. You have no idea how bad I needed to hear this.”
Angela quit the job at the Country Club and went out to her car where she wept.
“Okay God if we’re gonna have this baby you have to prepare my parents’ hearts, because I’m absolutely terrified to tell them,” she prayed. “You just have to let them know because if they freak out I freak out.”
Three days later, she went to see her mom. She sat down with her mom and little sister, about to burst into tears. “I’m pregnant,” she blurted out.
Mom already knew. She had been praying for Angela and God revealed it. God revealed that Angela was battling with the thought of aborting her child. In fact, God prompted Mom and Sister to pray for her at the very moment she was at the Country Club and the golfer spoke to her.
Angela’s baby is 22 years old now.
“God made a way for all of us,” she says. “I had a mustard seed of faith to think it might work out.”
