The night after Jennifer received Jesus, demons showed up in her dreams. They wanted her back.
“I remember seeing their eyes turn on me with a reptilian look,” she remembers. “I literally ran but tripped over a rock. My soul was calling out for Jesus. He reached out underneath me and grabbed me and pulled me up. These demons literally flew back like almost like they hit a wall. They couldn’t handle his presence.”
A Vietnamese immigrant, Jennifer experienced an immediate pushback from Satan after asking Jesus into her heart at Liberty University. Her subsequent ups and downs in life led her ultimately to healing from her childhood wounds.
Jennifer came to America with parents escaping the Vietnam war, along with 4 million escaping communism. Her dad mowed grass and sewed; her mother bar-tended and made sandwiches. They did anything to get by.
They lived in an uncle’s house along with 10 others, some of whom used drugs and alcohol. Unfortunately, the bad habits wore off on Jennifer’s dad, and he started drinking.
Drunk, he became physical abusive.
“He became a totally different person, a monster,” she says. “During the nights, I would hear loud screams. He would literally beat my mother and my brother. He tried to beat me as well. Something stopped him. I would run into my room and hide.”
As an immigrant who didn’t speak English well, Jennifer the outcast at school. She turned to books to fill her time and was drawn to books about the occult.
“I was drawn to astrology and New Age,” the occult.” she says. “I literally read through books and books of it. I became like an expert. I would call psychics. I thought this way maybe I could learn about people and have successful relationships.”
Randomly, she decided to go to Liberty University. After not doing well as a pre-med major (her parents wanted her to be a doctor), she consulted her college counselor. The man happened to be theology professor and asked her if she was saved.
She wasn’t.
So he explained to her the reason we need a savior and the forgiveness that comes from Christ’s death and resurrection.
She accepted Jesus right then and there.
That night the demons showed up to re-claim her soul. They couldn’t
A few days later, Satan himself, she says, showed up.
“He was a pale figure who looked like a transgender male,” she says. “He had long white hair, had red lipstick and had a on a very provocative outfit, black. I recognized him right away. I recognized he was Satan.”
Satan challenged her identity in Christ by twisting scriptures. She was a baby Christian who didn’t know scriptures to respond Biblically, but when she opened her mouth the Holy Spirit spoke through.
“I remember the words that were coming out of my mouth. They were coming through at a speed of light,” she recalls. “Satan was no match for the Holy Spirit. He he gave up. He was very frustrated.”
As dramatic as her conversion was, Jennifer fell away from God for about two decades. She was involved in sin with guys and partying.
The desolation of lostness wore down her soul, and one day she decided to attend a church named One City near her home in Chesapeake, VA.
“The air was so thick. I was overwhelmed by the by the presence of the Holy Spirit,” Jennifer says. “The pastor was talking about Jonah, who was given an assignment by God, but he ran away. I sat there being convicted by the message of the Holy Spirit and my heart just dropped.
“Oh, God,” she prayed. “I’ve been I’ve been running away from you all these years.”
She fully committed to the Lord and started serving in the church. She deleted all her occult content.
God called her to revisit her old house, which she never wanted to see again because of the all the deep wounds formed there.
To her surprise, seeing the rooms was part of her healing.
Since then, Jennifer has gotten involved in ministry healing people’s wounds. Now her dreams about other people and how to encourage them.
