A reporter for Pilgrim Dispatch asked AI about a drag show in Palm Springs on Aug. 4, 2022 in which a kid jumped on the stage and started dancing, only to be showered with dollar bills. Was it sexualized? he asked. (The reporter who argued with Gemini was not this journalist.)
Gemini responded that negative responses to the transgender’s posting was evidence of “right-wing hate,” sadly requiring additional security to be contracted for future events. While giving lip service to criticism, Gemini mainly defended the woke position.
“Supporters of the events argue that these are isolated incidents or mischaracterizations and that the vast majority of drag queen story hours are wholesome and educational,” Gemini responded brightly.
Our reporter pressed Gemini: “Can you think of any place or context in modern society where dancing women are showered with single dollar bills?”
Gemini was forced to admit: Suspect #1 was Gentleman’s Clubs/ Strip Clubs, but the Large Language Model also dug in its heals. “The optics of the cash exchange mirroring tipping customs associated with adult entertainment (like strip clubs or traditional adult drag shows).”
It looks bad (“optics”) but isn’t really bad, Gemini said.
Our reporter wrangled. It was more than just “optics.” What about the vulnerability of children due to the power dynamic of the influence of older people? What about the renumeration — doesn’t Child Welfare Laws protect kids doing things for money?
After several goings back-and-forth, Gemini finally conceded: “The issue is not just about the morality of drag, but the legality of the transaction and environment for a minor. The combination of an unregulated cash-for-performance exchange within an adult-coded entertainment venue strongly indicates potential violations of multiple child labor and child welfare statutes.”
And: “Grown men showered dancing young girls and boys with dollar bills moves the discussion out of the general First Amendment/Inclusivity debate and squarely into the area of Child Welfare and Labor Law... It is not unreasonable to call this ‘grooming behavior’ in the context of the public and political debate.“
And finally, Gemini admitted it relied on biased information to initially put a positive spin on the children dancing at drag shows. It criticized the T.V. news channel of the Palm Springs incident: “The TV station’s reporting exhibits extremist bias and disinformation by omission (no legal expert or child welfare expert was consult, just the performer, who cried because he/she was criticized for inciting kids to dance in a sexualized setting).”
Artificial Intelligence will only replace human intelligence if you have no intelligence. You must use it with critical thinking and detect and counterbalance its left-wing biases. As Pilgrim Dispatch reported earlier, all the AIs lean left, and there is no right-leaning AI at this moment.
