After always blaming Israel, the United Nations finally admitted that it’s Hamas to blocks the distribution of humanitarian aid to Gazans.
“Armed people affiliated with the de facto authorities forced their way into a food distribution point in northern Gaza,” said Ramiz Alakbarov, a U.N. deputy special coordinator for the Middle East peace process. ”They entered a World Food Programme warehouse and reportedly assaulted two truck drivers who were delivering humanitarian supplies.”
The late admission removes yet another piece of the jigsaw puzzle shoddily assembled by propagandists to accuse Israel of genocide. If they didn’t bomb the hospital, then they starved civilians, the pro-Hamas crowds alleged.
For months and months, the actual aid workers on the ground warned that Hamas was blocking food and supplies in an effort to amplify suffering of the people they were supposedly fighting for. They did and do this create sympathy in the international audience.
A foreign aid watchdog “consistently flagged incidents of Hamas interference in the delivery of aid, which the U.N., until now, chose to forget,” a senior U.S. official told JNS.
Even as it finally placed blame where blame is deserved, the U.N. left Hamas unnamed, preferring to call it the “defacto authorities.”
They “endangered humanitarian personnel, intimidated workers delivering lifesaving food assistance and disrupted lifesaving humanitarian operations,” Alakbarov said.
“The U.N. at last states the obvious on systematic theft and diversion of aid in Gaza,” a senior U.S. official told JNS.
The incidents with the “de facto authorities” in question “are not isolated” and “reflect an increasingly dangerous pattern of intimidation, violence, and obstruction, including smuggling attempts, targeting and abusing humanitarian operations,” Alakbarov said.
