Not without reason did Golsa Ghamari pour on the sarcasm: “Apparently Iran is a country of 90 million Islamophobes” (attributed).
The Iranian immigrant to Canada and a former Ontario MPP was commenting on the fact that Iranians right now are burning down mosques in the uprising against the regime. At least 25 mosques have been torched.

Her observations contrast sharply with the intolerant tolerance of progressive politics in Germany, the UK, Canada and other extreme-left-leaning governments who cherish the woke-Islamist coalition but don’t bother to dig deep into the teachings or history of hardline Islam:
- In Germany, eight of nine gang-rapists (mostly immigrants from Muslim countries) avoided jail in 2020 after attacking a 15-year-old girl in Hamburg park, but a 20-year-old woman who called one of the criminals a “disgraceful rapist pig” was sent to jail.
- In the United Kingdom in May, Lucy Connolly got 31 months in prison for expressing outrage against Muslim migrants, some of whom rape and kill, online. She called for burn down hotels that house asylum-seekers but quickly deleted the post. Meanwhile, convicted rapist Nikhil Chopra escaped jail time completely in January 2024 with a “suspended sentence.”
- In Canada, legislators have softened punishments on rapists (Jonathan Gravel of Quebec was sentenced in January 2023 to 14 months house arrest for rape). At the same time, legislators are pushing for hate crime laws that could send Canadians to jail for two years.

Britain has the distinction of making 30 arrests a day for social media posts, more than any other nation in the world, including totalitarian regimes like China and Russia. Not all of those arrests are anti-Islamic, but some are.
The glaring contrast between Iran and the West begs the question: What would progressive governments do to the Iranian people who are currently throwing off 47 years of repression? The Iranians identify mosques as part of the problem. Would Western cops arrest them en masse?

Golsa (who goes by Goldie) has struck a nerve. You can’t watch people freeing themselves from chains on one news channel and seeing arrests for anti-Islamic posts on another news channel and feel like the world is set in two alternate universes.
