As a trash man, Myron Golden made $6.25 an hour and focused on paying bills.
Then he became a “cash” man. Last year, he made $15M.
Myron Golden, a Christian get-rich guru, says the change came when he perceived the world differently.
“Poor people think the primary purpose of money is paying bills. Middle-class people think the primary purpose of money is to maintain good credit, so they can buy things they can’t afford to impress people they don’t know or like,” he told School of Hard Knocks. “Rich people believe the primary purpose of money is to turn into more money. Income follows assets.” ”
Money exists, not to buy things, but to make more money.
It’s a simple statement. If you don’t understand it, you probably aren’t rich. Once you understand it, you’re on your way to becoming rich.
A business is made by solving other people’s problems. Find something that stumps another man and solve it for him.
He’s been in business for 47 years and made his first million at age 45. He went broke in that time period because tragedy struck: “I upgraded my lifestyle way too soon when I first started making money. The scripture says when riches increase so do they that consume them. You have to make sure that you set yourself up in such a way that you don’t spend every dime out of every dollar.”
Along the way, Myron also found God. “I more than believe in God, I trust God,” he says. “He’s never lied to me. He’s never lied to anyone because God cannot lie, I trust God because he’s proven to me over and over and over again that everything he says in his word, which I believe is the Bible, is not just true but it’s truth.”
Today, Myron, 63, is a consultant who, through his free seminars online, invites people to his paid seminars. People want to hear his ideas, even if they have more money than him. Much of his business advice comes from the Bible.
Nuggets: “Hyper focus on intention and ignore distraction, Focus going deep on one thing, diversifying is a different conversation. He said he doesn’t like distractions, intention is anything that moves the needle in your favor; distraction is anything that you focus on that does not move the needle in you.”
“In business you can be great even if you’re not good. If you’re willing to serve enough people because greatness is your ability to serve the masses.”
“Life is short, so love the people you love. Don’t just repeat the same experience over and over again. Pack every day with life experiences, live every day with gratitude in your heart.”
“Learning to sell to the right people is one of the most valuable lessons I’ve ever learned. I’d been selling to the people who needed it instead of the people who wanted it. I was the brokest person in (a certain) Mastermind class. Everybody in that Mastermind acted like my ideas were the best ideas they had ever heard, even though they were way ahead of me financially.”
