Child star Danica McKellar dropped acting to get a degree in mathematics from UCLA, came back to acting, then dropped her skepticism to accept Jesus Christ.
“I’d always been so biased against Christianity for causing wars and you think Christians are these really judgmental people, all this religious stuff,” she says. “The truth is Jesus was anti-religious. I saw this passion play at church with Candace (Cameron), and I suddenly understood.”

Danica McKellar was etched into America’s psyche with her memorable role as Winnie Cooper on The Wonder Years 1988–’93. Unlike other child stars who seque straight into a lifetime of profitable acting, Danica stepped away to become a college student.
After getting the UCLA degree, she came back to Hollywood with roles in The West Wing as Elsie Snuffin, assistant and half-sister to Will Bailey, guest appearances in How I Met Your Mother, a guest role in “The Psychic Vortex on The Big Bang Theory and a voice role on Young Justice.

Her home now is on the Great American Family network doing rom-coms. Her friend Candace Cameron invited her to church in 2022 and she eventually understood the Gospel. “It just hit me,” she says. “Everything hit me. The Holy Spirit came to me. It was like a wave of love and understanding hit me.”
She announced on social media her decision to receive Christ.
“When you experience something that is so beautiful and so wonderful and so life-changing, you want everyone to feel that,” she says.
